who are we

TheVTeam is an Indiana-based network of storm chasers, spotters, and weather enthusiasts dedicated to tracking and reporting severe weather in real time. What started as a group of like-minded individuals has grown into a coordinated team focused on delivering accurate, ground-level observations during high-impact weather events.

We operate across the Ohio Valley, monitoring conditions, identifying storm structure, and providing real-time updates to both our team and the communities we serve. Whether it’s a developing supercell or an active tornado warning, our goal is to be positioned where the information matters most.

WHAT WE DO

TheVTeam is focused on real-time severe weather operations, combining field observation with coordinated communication.

Our core operations include:

  • Storm Chasing & Intercepts
Positioning safely near storms to observe structure, rotation, and potential tornado development.

  • Live Field Reporting
Providing real-time updates on storm conditions including hail, wind, rotation, and damage.

  • Situational Awareness & Tracking
Monitoring storm movement, intensity, and environmental changes across Indiana.

  • Documentation & Media
Capturing photo and video evidence of severe weather for analysis, awareness, and historical record.

  • Severe Weather Communication
Sharing critical updates quickly and clearly to help others stay informed and prepared.

HOW WE OPERATE

TheVTeam runs primarily through a centralized Discord operations hub, allowing us to coordinate efficiently before, during, and after severe weather events.

Our Discord server functions as our:

  • Command Center – where forecasts, outlooks, and targets are discussed

  • Live Ops Channel – for real-time chase communication and coordination

  • Reporting Hub – where spotters submit observations and updates

  • Planning & Briefing Area – for pre-event setup and post-event review

Our Zello channel is secured to our spotters and chasers. The Zello channel offers radio communications via internet, thus not requiring a radio license.

This structure allows our team to stay connected, organized, and responsive—no matter where members are positioned across the states.
